Managing Director and Owner
Urs Ringler is the Managing Director and owner of Diani Flowers and Landscaping Limited (DFL). He established the company in Mombasa, Kenya after completion of his studies in Oberrieden, Wetzikon, Zurich. He has over 32 years experience in landscaping, landscaping architecture and irrigation installation and maintenance. He has worked with several landscaping companies in Switzerland. He worked at Haller Park at Baobab Cement factory in Mombasa. He carried out various tasks from farming Giant East African Snails Achatina fulica to establishing a banana plantation Musa acuminata. At the Park he reinforced his knowledge with regard to environmentally-friendly practices with a special focus on biological pest control.
At the South Coast in Diani, he gained experience in various large landscaping projects for several five star hotels, golf course development and design and construction of water features.
He moved to Nairobi to take up a contract with an international organisation in 1992. He currently provides professional landscaping services for international organisations, companies, embassies and residences. His expertise is in landscaping, garden maintenance, installation of Robotic Automowers from Husqvarna and Perrot irrigation Systems made in Germany, including their maintenance. He also installs “Living Walls” made in the Netherlands by the Mobilane Group. He also specialises in iron art, ironmongery design and construction of entertainment areas that include grill stations, pizza and tandoor ovens.
Urs Ringler owns the patent for KenRock which are volcanic rocks made into planters, ponds, walls, containers for hanging orchid gardens and water features.
Urs Ringler is a keen environmentalist with a specific interest in reafforestation and specialises in recycling various materials. He promotes the planting of indigenous trees. He organises large tree planting exercises with local communities in Kenya to support the Billion Tree Campaign.

Diani Flowers and Landscaping Limited has over 100 hardworking and dedicated staff members. The staff is comprised of horticulturists (that hold degrees from various institutions of higher learning), team leaders, supervisors, gardeners, florists, administrative staff, ironmongers, mechanics, drivers, pool attendants, store keepers, greenhouse specialists and nursery development staff. All hired staff have been vetted and have a police clearance good conduct certificate (PCGCC). Some employees have been with the Company for over 20 years. We also have a large group of support staff available that can be called upon for additional projects like construction, electrical wiring etc.
This broad spectrum of specialised and highly qualified staff ensures that all aspects of landscaping and gardening are well covered. Apart from landscaping activities, the Company focuses on training to provide opportunities for staff to acquire new skills. DFL not only provides employment to the contracted staff but also provides business opportunities to many other local material suppliers.
